In addition to teaching my members how to make money by selling put options in our Smart Option Seller newsletter, I like to educate the public on any other option trading topic that comes up.

Here is my answer to the title question:

Options trading in the stock market is a way for you to speculate on the direction of the stock without actually being involved with the stock itself.

There are two types of options - call options & put options. And you can either be a buyer or seller of those options, each giving you a different profit/loss scenario.

Options are called “derivative investments” because the value of those options are derived from not only the stock price itself, but by time & volatility.

I love trading options!
