Trade Results - MRK

Trade Results - Merck & Co. (MRK) Hello Smart Option Sellers! Hope everyone had a great weekend. A sincere thank you to those that sent birthday wishes my way. It was a great day and weekend. Let's go over the results of last Thursday's new put-sell trade on MRK. Obviously there's been a semi-assault on parts of the healthcare industry, especially the pharma stocks. Stalwarts such as LLY, BMY, PFE have all fallen over the last few days. Even JNJ got hit especially hard, but that was due more to new legal claims against the company. The recent sell-off in these stocks are due to President Trump's efforts to curtail the price of prescription drugs, many of which are manufactured by the above mentioned companies. Lower pill prices would be great for all, but that doesn't mean these businesses are going out of business. The selling is always more severe (and unjustified) when news like this comes across the tape. It's always a gift for us though when we can take advantage of these types of sell-offs. Anyway, we entered a new trade last Thursday but not everyone was able to get filled that day. Friday brought more selling which then let everyone get filled on the put-sells. Over the course of Thursday and Friday, option prices traded in a range of $0.25 to $0.30 per contract, so we'll take the official mark at $0.27 per. Here's what we did: Sold (sold-to-open) the MRK November 15, 2019 $60 put options for an official sale price of $0.27 per contract as an opening transaction (sell-to-open). As of now, this put option is still trading near $0.27 per contract, so if you didn't get your trade in yet, you can still get filled at the recommended prices. Healthcare (all kinds) is one sector of the market that will not be held down. We as individuals all need healthcare, so regardless of whether legislation is in the works to lower prices, or to repeal Obamacare, or to enact medicare for all, quality healthcare companies will still be around and still produce products and still will grow earnings. There's no doubt about that. My plan is to take advantage of any major pullbacks. Ok, that's all for now. Continue to hold all other open positions as-is.
